Entering freshmen SAT scores in the 25th-75th percentile range are among the highest in the peer group (1040-1220 compared to peer group average of 980-1165). Salisburys percentages of minority and African American undergraduate students are 17.8 percent and 11.8 percent respectively and both exceed the peer averages. The second-year retention rate that rose to 82 percent in 2008 remains at that level and is three percentage points higher than the peer average in 2009. Salisburys overall six-year graduation rate of 66.1 percent is 7.6 percentage points above the peer average. Minority and African American graduation rates have continued to improve. The minority rate is 63.4 percent (up from 62.2 percent), while that of African Americans is 62.0 percent (up by 4.9 points). Both rates remain above peer averages: 17.2 points higher for all minority students and 20.6 points for African American students. Salisburys pass rate on nursing licensing exams rose is 96 percent for 2009; three points higher than the peer average of 93 percent with only six of the ten peers reporting. The average alumni giving rate increased by two points to 16 percent, putting Salisbury 6.9 points above peers on this measure. The university compares lags its peers on one core performance measure: pass rate on teacher licensure exams. The universitys 95 percent pass rate, although up one point from last year, still falls short of the peer average of 97 percent. Salisbury selected five institution-specific indicators and outperforms the peers on four of them. Salisbury is more selective than its peers with an acceptance rate of 54 percent compared to a peer average of 64 percent. Eighty-four percent of Salisbury faculty hold the terminal degree, equivalent to the peer average. The student-faculty ratio is 17 to 1, better than the 19 to 1 peer average. The average high school GPA for entering freshmen of 3.5 and is two points higher than the average. The one metric where Salisbury lags the peers is in the state appropriation per FTE level of $5,201, which is $1,648 below the peer average. Commission staff commends Salisbury on maintaining diversity and improving retention and graduation rates. In the past, the university has described initiatives to improve teacher licensure exam pass rates; the Commission requests an update in view of Salisburys continuing under-performance relative to peers. Institutions Response At 95%, the pass rate for the PRAXIS was one percentage point higher than the rate attained during the previous year. During the 2008-09 academic year, the Professional Education unit implemented a new graduation requirement for students seeking their degree in a Professional Education area. Beginning with students graduating from the Professional Education program in spring 2010 and after, students must pass the PRAXIS II in order to graduate with recommendation for certification. This change will result in a pass rate of 100% for the 2012 reporting cycle. 37@Fhj " Z ] _ b p s , 0 < F w z { / ? ^ v !"Y !-.2Ach fhZH*hZ h fhZh{hZ5CJ\aJh xhZ5CJ\aJR/ 0 !"%& x7$8$H$gdZ$a$gdZgdZ$a$gdZ ;h}$%&h+D h:_hZhH hUhZhZ h fhZ21h:p+D/ =!"#$% b 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~PJ_HmH nH sH tH D`D ZNormalCJPJ_HaJmH sH tH @`@ Z Heading 5$$@&a$5\DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List >/> ZHeading 5 Char 5PJ\PK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
