The Campus Post Office is open from 8AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday. The office is closed both Saturday and Sunday. Lobby access to your mailbox remains open until midnight.

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and the Gull Card.

Mail Arrives

USPS mail arrives at 9i´«Ã½ÓÐÏÞ¹«Ë¾ (SU) at 8:00AM and 12:00PM, and is sorted for campus delivery. Mail deliveries for East Campus and regional locations begins at 9:45AM. Main campus mail deliveries begin at 11:30AM. UPS arrives between 10:30AM and 11:30AM and Fed Ex arrives between 10:00AM and 1:00PM.

Mail Leaves

Mail is picked up by the USPS between 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. Anything dropped in mail slots after that time will leave the next day between 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM. Any mail dropped after 2:30 PM on Friday will not leave campus until Monday afternoon.

If something is urgent and you can't make it here by 2:30, we can postmark it for you and you can take it to the USPS yourself.

There is one USPS mailbox on campus, located outside Holloway Hall and Parking Lot F.  Mail is picked up Monday through Friday at 5:30PM, and on Saturdays at 9:00AM.

We offer a variety of services that a regular USPS Post Office does, such as: priority mail (2-3 days),insured mail, certified mail, delivery confirmation, and international mail. We also sell stamps both individually and in books.

We do not offer money orders! We also do not offer FED EX, UPS, Airborne or any other carrier. These services are provided by either the Accounts Payable office in HH or at Central Receiving on Bateman St across from the track.

Fed Ex and UPS packages should be addressed to 119 Bateman Street Salisbury MD 21804. If our office receives a UPS or Fed Ex package, you will be emailed asking to either pick it up or have it delivered. If a package is too large to fit in our mailbags, it will delivered to Support Services on Tuesday or Thursday. If received after 8:00am on Thursday, it will be delivered to Central Receiving in Support Services the following Tuesday.

Please separate all on and off-campus mail. This prevents us from affixing postage to letters designed to remain on campus. Just paperclip or rubber band any on-campus letters together.

Please separate international mail from domestic (US) mail. International mail requires additional postage. Due to increased security measures, any international piece that weighs more than 1 pound needs to have a customs form attached to the mail piece.

When using inter-departmental mail envelopes, please use the department in which the person works. DO NOT use building and room numbers. We have no idea who is in what room. For example, use Dr. Janet Dudley-Eshbach President's Office- Not HH 230.

Off-campus letters (regular sized #10 envelopes) that need to be sealed should have flaps down, flat against the envelope. Our machine can seal and stamp the letters at the same time.

All flats should be sealed when they are received at the SU Post Office (SUPO). Because of the thickness and the location of the flap, it needs to sealed securely. Sometimes a small piece of tape or a clasp will not do an effective job.

• Try not to wait until Friday to get a huge or bulk mail out before the weekend. I can't guarantee that we can process it in time for that day's pickup.
• When using the generic SU envelopes, write your name or dept. as part of the return address. When these envelopes come back, I or my staff have to open them to route them correctly and there may some important confidential information contained inside.
• Our meter is for 9i´«Ã½ÓÐÏÞ¹«Ë¾ business use only. We don't provide postage for personal mail in a SU envelope i.e. Comcast, Verizon, Visa, etc.

Bulk mail requires 200 pieces in order to qualify for a bulk mailing.  All mail pieces need an indicia in the upper right corner, where the stamp would normally go. This indicia contains SU's bulk mailing permit number #65 along with other info the USPS requires. It can be printed manually at the SUPO with rubber stamp.  Creative Services & Brand Strategy (formerly Publications) or Duplications can make it look more professional by printing the indicia on the envelopes before they are addressed.

As of January 4 2010, the USPS requires that all non-profit or bulk mail contain "Address Services Requested". This should be printed on all mail pieces under the return address. The USPS is trying to clean up old addresses, by using ASR, mail will be returned to sender with the correct address with the expectation that the SU database will be updated for the next mailing.

If the mail piece is a bi-fold or tri-fold, tabs or tape will need to be used to close the mail piece. The open side opposite the spine and the right side need to be closed with tabs/tape. This will prevent flaps from flying open or get caught in machinery. DO NOT USE STAPLES!!!! Stapled mail pieces will be returned or presented as non-machineable and the cost of the mailing will more than double.

Bulk mailings must be grouped and banded according to zip codes:

• all 218 zip codes
• remainder of state of MD zip codes
• the rest of the mailing

Labels can be printed in zip code order and should be arranged in flats in that order. Include the number of mail pieces and the account number to which the mailing will be charged. The Campus Post Office will fill out the for you. If possible, please drop off mailing at campus post office.  Rubber bands and mail crates are available upon request.
